Collective: Music Festival Poster

Typography, Editorial Design, Analog/Digital Media | October 2024

Collective was designed as a music festival poster with a requirement that at least half of the work be analog, which became an opportunity to explore how tactile processes can shape typographic storytelling.

I grounded the concept in the idea of music as a shared, intimate experience and built a visual direction centered on warmth, texture, and human touch.

Early sketches and material tests helped establish a tone that felt handcrafted rather than overly polished.

Behind The Design

The final system blends analog elements, including a scanned watercolor illustration, hand-lettered title, and photographed wooden block letters, with digital type for clarity and structure.

Each analog component was digitized and refined to create a cohesive hierarchy, allowing the poster to feel expressive while maintaining readability.

This balance between texture and legibility guided my iterative process as I reworked compositions and experimented with different material combinations.

Through these decisions, the poster reflects both the spirit of the imagined festival and my interest in merging traditional techniques with digital workflows.

The project strengthened my confidence in analog-to-digital experimentation and reinforced how handcrafted elements can deepen emotional resonance within typographic design.
